Overview

In an ideal world, every agency would be able to make money from every candidate and vacancy they receive, but as every recruiter knows, the reality falls some way short of the ideal. SplitFeeJobs.com is a Rec2Rec tool that is intended to allow professional recruitment companies to make more money from their candidates and vacancies (Job Specs), by allowing agencies to harness the power of all the other agencies around the world, creating a massive pool of candidates, vacancies and recruitment knowledge.

The tool works by allowing a professional recruiter to "broadcast" the vacancies they cannot immediately fill and candidates they cannot immediately place to all other recruiters, which significantly increases the chance of a successful placement being made and the sharing of a recruitment fee that otherwise would not have been made.

We wish you luck in using this tool and hope that it increases the profitability of your recruiting organisation.

How SFJ works

When a professional recruiting company registers on SplitFeeJobs.com, your first action is to define what types of vacancies and candidates you want to receive alerts for. This is done by setting up "job alerts", which define precisely "what and where" you recruit (e.g. Finance staff within a 40 mile radius of London, Tourism staff in the State of Washington, etc).

Once your job alerts have been set up, you are ready to start adding your own split fee vacancies and candidates that you want to offer to other professional recruitment companies.

For each vacancy and candidate you want to offer up for a Split Fee, you submit a summary profile, which will be immediately e- Mailed to every matching recruiter on the database, as well as being added to the our searchable vacancies and candidates database.

If a recruiter wishes to work on one of your vacancies or candidates on a split fee basis, they will "apply" to your advert and you will receive an immediate notification that someone wishes to work with you on one of your splits. You can then review information about the other recruiter, including what they feel they are able to bring to you, how many splits through SplitfeeJobs they have previously worked on and how many of their partners have said they would work with them again. You use this information to decide whether to accept or reject the recruiters approach.

If you wish to work with another recruiter on their vacancy or candidate, you apply to the recruiter, with a simple message regarding what you are able to offer. The recruiter will then have a choice to accept or reject you as a partner. If the recruiter does accept your offer, you are debited one Split Fee Credit for the introduction. If the recruiter declines your offer, then you do not use up one of your Split Fee Credits.

Once a partnership has been agreed, the SplitFeeJobs “Messages” section allows you to use the SplitFeeJobs website to communicate directly with the partner. This includes the sending of CV’s/resumes to the partner through the website, so that you both have a complete audit trail of all communications and candidates sent between the two parties.

When you have concluded the partnering with a recruiter on a job or candidate, you "close" the Split and define on SplitFeeJobs whether or not you would work with the other recruiter again. This is a very important part of the system and is intended to encourage and reward recruiters who act in an honest and ethical way with their partners.

If you say that you would work with a partner again, then you will continue to see each others vacancies and candidates. Other recruiters will also be able to see that a partnering took place that you were happy with (even if a placement was not made) and that you felt that the recruiter is someone that you would partner with again.

If you say that you would not work with that partner again, then you will never again be able to see each others vacancies or candidates. Other recruiters will also be able to see that a partnering took place, but you were not happy with how the other recruiter acted and you would not partner with the other recruiter again.

Note. All recruiters are kept anonymous from each other until a partnering has been agreed and you cannot interrogate the system to find out specific information about any individual recruiter.

Hints and Tips

Used correctly, SplitFeeJobs.com should be able to significantly increase the revenue you can earn from your candidates and job specs. Below are some suggestions on how to make the most from the tool:

1. Receiving notification if any Jobs are added to the site that could be suitable for any of your candidates

SplitFeeJobs.com can be used to alert you to any jobs added to the site that potentially match your individual candidates. Example.
  • You interview a candidate called Bob Smith, who lives in Maidenhead and is looking for permanent Sales Managers jobs for 50-60K, but you have no current job for him
  • You then add a Job Alert on SplitFeeJobs.com called "Bob Smiths jobs" (you can have unlimited Job Alerts), which is for Sales Jobs within a 30 mile radius of Maidenhead and a salary of 50-60K
  • If any jobs then get added (or any jobs already exist) on the site that match the "Bob Smiths" alert, you get an immediate notification for that particular alert and you are notified which candidate the job is suitable for.

2. Ensure all your recruiters are registered

Registering on SplitFeeJobs.com is free and so is posting jobs and candidates that you want to "Split". Therefore, every recruiter within your organisation should benefit from being registered. However, it is vital that you add at least one "Job Alert", so the system knows what you specialise in and when to notify you on a job or candidate that could be of interest to you.

3. Be realistic about the fee you are offering

Carefully consider the amount of money you are offering to your potential partners for a successful split. The offering should reflect what you expect from the partner, the rarity of the resource and the amount of time that they will need to expend. It is unlikely that recruiters are going to respond to your split adverts unless your offering is reasonable.

4. When to say you would (or wouldn't) work with another recruiter again

Once your business with another recruiter has been concluded, it is very important that you specify whether you would (or wouldn't) work with that recruiter again. Recruiters who put effort in to a partnership should be rewarded with a "Yes, I would work with this recruiter again", even if no actual placement is made. A "No, I would not work with this recruiter again" should only be used when a recruiter has not acted in an honourable way (e.g. not paid their share of the split fee, or deliberately misled their partner). Remember, if either party specify a "No, I would not work with this recruiter again", then you will never be able to see that recruiters jobs or candidates again.

5. General job alerts

It is important that you specify Job Alerts that cover everything that you (as an individual, or a company) recruit for. If you recruit for different things in different locations, then set up as many job alerts as you need, in order to cover everything that you do (remember, there is no limit to the number of job alerts that you can set up).

FAQ

Can all of my recruiters in my organisation register individually?

Yes, the number of user accounts are not limited.

Will other recruiters in my own organisation see my jobs and candidates? No, SplitFeeJobs.com recognises when a posting is from another recruiter in your own organisation and does not allow them to see job vacancies and candidates they already have access to.

How can I ensure that I don't approach (or get approached) by a partner that I don't want to work with again?

When you have completed a partnering with another recruiter, the system allows you to indicate whether you would or wouldn't work with that partner again. If you indicate that you wouldn't work with the partner again, then SplitFeeJobs.com will block you from seeing each others jobs and candidates.

How long does the amount of Splits that I have worked on get recorded and displayed?

All transactions are recorded and displayed for a period of 12 months. After that, any Splits and subsequent number of recruiters that have said that they would or would not work with you expire. However, any recruiter that you have said you no longer wish to work with will be retained.

How do I know who has left me a positive or negative rating?

The simple answer is that you can't. In order to allow everyone to rate each partnership anonymously, we do not show who has left you feedback.

Does SplitFeeJobs.com adjudicate in any dispute between two parties who are working together?

No. SplitFeeJobs.com is an introduction service only. Any agreements and subsequent disputes between recruiters are the sole responsibility of the two parties. However, if a recruiter feels that their partner has operated unethically, then the recruiter can indicate that they could not work with the other party again, which other recruiters can see when subsequent partnerships are being negotiated.

What geographic locations does SplitFeeJobs.com cover?

SplitFeeJobs.com covers the whole world. The website is currently only written in English, but language conversations are being worked on and will be launched as soon as possible.

How can I have a negative decision overturned?

As explained above, SplitFeeJobs.com does not get involved in any transaction therefore, it is down to each party to 'rate' their experience. If you feel that a negative mark has been left unfairly, you can always contact the other agency and ask them to review their decision. The other party is able to change a negative to positive, but not the other way around.
